No more nail polish for me!

January 31, 2009

Hi guys!

I had to edit my last post about the nail polish set.

I was really excited when I received my second package but unfortunately, they were the same colors I got before :-(   Apparently, they just have 20 colors that they ship every time.

I wrote them an email asking to get a refund or an exchange and some crazy bitch emailed me a very NASTY reply! Cannot recommend this store anymore, their customer service SUCK! I emailed back letting her know she was the biggest jerk ever (in my own sassy way ;-) ) and she apologized, but I’m yet to return the package. I’m sure they won’t be refunding me the shipping part and the postage for the return of the package so I’m thinking I’ll keep them and maybe do a little give away!!

Or I can mail the 20 of them to someone that wants to buy them for $20 and I’ll pay for shipping :-)

What do you think?

Online Treasures: Nail polish set

January 27, 2009

This post has been edited, please read note at the bottom!

Time to do our nails!

I found this store on Amazon and order one set of 20 nail polish in assorted colors. It was $19.99 plus $5.99 so I thought what the hell, it’s cheap enough for 20 of them! I was half expecting them to be kind of crappy and cheap but at least be able to keep a few of them (the not so crappy ones), plus I love surprises (assorted colors, yay!) so when I got them I was happily surprised by this:

20 BUCKS FOR ALL THESE!

20 BUCKS FOR ALL THESE!

I was so excited I had to use them all!

And guess what I’m doing next?

Yep, I’m ordering some more! I hope the next group has more colors :-) I’m requesting a black and a gold nail polish… I hope they can include them in my next order! I’ll let you guys know how that goes.

Go check them out!

FYI – I’m not affiliated to this business, I just love giving good tips if you’re a bargain shopper like me ;-)

Had to edit this post… got my second package -quick shipping – but they were all the same colors. :-(

More of the jeep…

January 26, 2009

Poor jeepsie is about to kick the bucket. Yesterday, as I was leaving home to go to work, I noticed some weird noise in the car’s engine but i ignored it thinking it was its normal aches and pains. I got on the highway and as soon as i got far enough from my place it started acting up again. Something was off, the jeep was not switching from first gear to any other gear. I stepped on the gas pedal but nothing. It just wouldn’t go. I had to pull over and call J to see what his suggestion was and we both thought that it would best  to go back home and leave it there. OMG it could barely make it up the hill. I almost thought I would have to park somewhere else, but it made it home just barely. :-(    It will suck if it dies and we have to buy a new car, we would have to kiss our cruise trip and our Peru trip goodbye. I gotta stay positive, it’s probably something silly (please please be something fixable…!) However, on the plus side, I had to take the bus and it was a fun ride: I haven’t riden the bus for so long! And it was bad weather to drive in anyway. PLUS – a second plus if I’m allowed to – I missed almost 1 hour 20 minutes of work :-)

This broken car thing makes me realize that perhaps I’m too dependant on J. I want to wait for him to come back home (did I mention he’s in Vegas right now for 10 days?) so we can resolve this together. Or maybe I’m just too lazy to take care of it myself. What do you think? Have you ever relied on your significant other that much? Maybe I should just take care of it myself, I don’t know.

On a different note, IT SNOWED TODAY! I know, I know, I usually complain about it but right now we’re needing it BAD. It rained yesterday all day and the slopes aren’t looking so good – I’m off this weekend and I’m planning on going skiing again, fingers crossed – so yay for snow!

I’ll leave you with some pics I took of Penny earlier today while playing frisbee (that I sent to J so he doesn’t miss us so much)

Happy Monday!

Locked out

January 20, 2009

The last couple of weeks I’ve been carpooling with a friend from work. It’s really nice to have company in the morning and at the end of the day because traffic can get really bad, at least in the winter. Plus, if it storms it’s even worse. In the summer I would usually take 10 to 15 minutes to get home but in the winter it can take anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours (on really bad weather).

Yesterday was my turn to drive. I would normally pick my friend up at 8 am but  I was already a few minutes late. I called her to let her know I was on my way as I was running out the door with the car keys in my hand. I got to the car and guess what? I couldn’t get in the freaking car.

IT WAS FROZEN.

Literally!

I’m not even kidding.

The key wasn’t unlocking the door. Then I remembered I had taken the poor jeep to have it washed (it was really dirty) the day before. Not a good idea. I tried both doors, the driver’s side and the passenger’s side. One of them couldn’t even get unlock and the other one would, but the door was frozen in place. I even tried to get in through the back but the key would go only half way in. My friend tried too, but we didn’t want to break the key (that would have been even worse). We ended up getting a ride with someone else.

After discussing about it at work I got lots of helpful suggestions from co-workers. One of them suggested I could pee on it. How’s that?

I guess for a man, it’s easy to say. How would I pee on a keyhole? I might need a chair to climb on…

I’m glad about two things though:

- It was sunny and warm enough that the jeep got thawed out by the end of the day.

- Jeremy didn’t need to pee on it.  Ew.

Some skiing and some celebrity sightings

January 19, 2009

Wow.

I’ve been so crazy busy lately, it’s that time of the year for me. I finally got a break this weekend and J and I decided to go skiing again… it was so much fun! I was hoping I would get my new skis for this weekend but they will end up coming today or tomorrow. Oh well, i’ll use them next weekend.

I have to tell you though: I SKIED TWO BLACK RUNS! That’s a huge achievement for me because I really suck. I learned to ski a couple of years ago and I ski kind of funny, really! I don’t really use my poles although i’m working on it.  Anyway, I felt pretty good with myself after I looked back at those steep runs. I should have taken more pics but my camera battery died.

Sigh.

A couple of my friends came too, we had lunch together and it was yummy! I had some fish tacos – they’re my favorite -  and while we were sitting there we saw Uma Thurman walking in with her kids and sat a couple of tables away. We took a few pictures of us with her in the background haha pretty groupie huh?

uma

She smokes A LOT. I’m glad she sat kind of far. I hate the smell of smoke – even more when I’m eating.

uma1

BTW, do you see those wrinkles near my eye? Gosh, I’m old.

Now the Sundance Film Festival is here. It started on Thursday and it’s been pretty crowded. I hate this time of the year: a lot of tourists, a lot of bad drivers out there, lots of snow and lots of lines everywhere you go. Grocery stores, movie theaters, restaurants. Everything is packed. Ugh. The first day of the festival I saw the Jim guy from the office at the grocery store – he’s pretty cute – just walking around with friends. What’s his name? Please hold while I google him…

Hold…

JOHN KRASINSKI. Yep, that’s him.

Pretty hot huh? He didn’t look like this when I saw him though, I wasn’t sure it was really him until I heard someone else say she saw him too. So yeah, it’s confirmed – it was him.

I’m trying to stay away from this celebrity invasion but I don’t know… they’re everywhere!

How was your weekend?

Forward Friday: The greatest prank call ever

January 16, 2009

So funny!

Have a great weekend everyone :-)

2008 in a nutshell

January 15, 2009

Rachie did this a couple of days ago and although 2008 is very over now, I thought it was fun to do :-)

Best ____of the year:
1. party: my second wedding in Peru
2. show: definitely LOST
3. cd: Not one in particular, I love all the songs I have on my player
4. movie: Sex and the City… totally surprised me and I loved it
5. song: Big girls don’t cry… I had it stuck on my head for I don’t know how long
6. experience: showing my husband the place where I was born,  grew up and went to school
7. concert: Opera at an Amphitheater during summer while sipping on a glass of wine
8. book: Twilight
9. month: May
10. day: March 3, our one-year anniversary

Worst ____ of the year:
1. party: the ones where I didn’t know anybody and J wasn’t around
2. show: Paris Hilton’s BFF… it’s full of IT!
3. cd: not sure about this one
4. movie: Twilight. BY FAR.
5. song: all the songs in the soundtrack of Twilight.
6. experience: when slackers at work get better jobs and more salary and still do nothing all day, but just because you work harder than the rest they keep piling tasks on you. Without acknowledging it.
7. concert: in a bar, it was pretty bad. I’m glad I don’t remember the name of the band!
8. book: Once again, like Rachie, I say Breaking Dawn. It seemed to me like they tried to hard to wow people and be unpredictable. Totally ruined the story :-(
9. month: February

Copy it and do it in your blog!

Quirks and things I don’t understand

January 14, 2009
  • One of my friends hate watermelon.
  • Another friend from work gets freaked out with birds. Even deco bird-shaped stuff.
  • I hate the cooking smell: onions, BBQs, fried stuff, etc. It makes my hair and clothes smell like cooking. Ugh.
  • Penny doesn’t like kisses.

no-kisses

  • Jeremy would cook everyday if it were up to him. And our place would stink like cooking everyday.
  • One of my best friend’s 2-year-old son loves to suck and chew on limes and/or lemons wedges.
  • I don’t understand why I don’t miss soda. I’m keeping my New Year resolutions! (at least that one)
  • All my favorite bloggers kind of slowed down blogging at the same time I did! We’re all sync-up, like when a group of girlfriends have their period at the same time. Neh, maybe it’s not exactly the same but you get it.
  • Sometimes I miss having a female roommate to help me decide what to wear. J is not the greatest on that, for him everything looks ‘nice’: ‘Do you like this one?’   ‘Yes, that’s nice’ … And this one?’  ‘Yep, that’s nice too’. Sigh.
  • After you get married, you stop ‘feeling like it’… WHY? Is this everybody or just me certain people?
  • People that whine ALL THE TIME and still have friends who want to hang out with them.
  • I don’t still get why J loves me. I’m such a bitch sometimes.
  • I already feel like a real mom to Penny. It’s such hard work! Can’t imagine what it’s like with a real baby. Although at least you can take the baby to a mall, a grocery store and pretty much everywhere. However, your poor dog has to wait at home while you run errands and you can’t be away from home for more than 3 or 4 hours. I feel bad enough for leaving Penny 8 hours every day!

What about you guys? Any quirk?

I know I have been slacking but…

January 12, 2009
  • I have been working like crazy. Really. This is my busiest time of the year.
  • I joined a book club from the girls at work. We have to read ‘The Oulander’ by Diana Gabaldon… have you read it?
  • Weather hasn’t been so nice, and it just takes all my inspiration out of me.
  • I will really try to post something interesting in the next few days (fingers crossed)
  • I have taken and saved a few more pictures on the new 8 GB HC SD card I bought and guess what? my computer can’t read the freaking card. And after reading my camera manual it says : “Careful when buying HC SD cards, not every computer reads it!”. Shit.
  • I really miss my summer days when all i did was read blogs and blog. Sigh.
  • I’m hoping I will get some extra money on my tax refund to splurge on our cruise trip :-)
  • I promise you I have 1000 more excuses to explain WHY ON EARTH I haven’t blogged for so long but I just can’t remember.

You guys, I really miss you! I would love to spend my days just reading about your lives (waaay more interesting than mine) but I just haven’t got a break from work and errands for home and dinners. I come home completely (mentally and physically) drained and have nothing to blog about. Well, more like no energy to blog.  I would even say I have those blogger’s block that’s so IN right now, but I’m not that good to have that. Sucky.

Maybe tomorrow’s excuse will be more belieavable! We shall see.  I promise to do my best to keep you posted on what’s going on.

Hopefully soon.

Did you have a good weekend?
