October 29, 2008

First off, I want to thank you all guys for all your comments and patient with my bitching. I had it coming for a while. AAAAANNNDDD I think I might do password protected posts. I’ve never used those, can I use the same passwords for all posts I want only my blogger friends to read?

I’m too lazy to create a whole new blog and keeping up a secret identity must be hard to achieve. How do you guys do it?

Self-censoring

October 28, 2008

I’m self-censoring.

A LOT.

Have you noticed I’ve been posting really really lame things?

Or just pictures?

It’s because I’ve told way too many people about my blog. It’s like I was craving attention and went and told everyone about it. I was stupid enough to put up a link on my Facebook page. Yep. THAT stupid. I took it out after my first month -when i was a rookie blogger – but I think it got out there too much because now close friends, not-so-close friends, people I don’t like and my mom, my husband, my boss, and the rest of the world know about it.

Damn.

You know those times when you want to go and bitch about stuff? And talk about how the silly things in your life go wrong and you want to share it with people that would be objective about it and think about your situation for a second, give you advice and then forget about it? Yea, I need that. I need some friends, like you guys, my blogger friends who can care enough to leave me a comment and cheer me up but then not care enough to go and gossip about my life. Well, I made that to myself. This was supposed to be my way out, when J is sick of listening to my bitching, and my complaining, and my way-too-detailed stories of my everyday life. Now I have to sit and stare at my blank screen and my blank post.

And a million things are racing through my mind and wait…!

Story Number 1 can’t not be out here. People who know me will tell everyone about it and no. That’s a no.

Let’s see… story number 2! No, can’t do it. I think the person (or people) I want to bitch about right now reads me.

Story # 3… no, I can’t talk about work. Someone from work who doesn’t know me well could read it and make a big deal out of it or take it the wrong way. And then I’ll get fired. Like Dooce. Or someone else that didn’t use that as an excuse to make an easy living.

Story #4. Nope. If J and I had a fight and I want to talk about it, he might read it and then his feelings might get hurt. Or most likely my feelings would get hurt, because he’s always so good that people will start hating me because I lose it so easily and he’s such a saint with me. I don’t want that either.

This is so annoying!

I guess it’s sometimes good that when something good happens, people I know in real life will read me and know about it and be happy for me and that way I don’t have to repeat the story 100 times. But sometimes it’s just SO FUCKING HARD.

Maybe I should start another blog with a secret identity and talk freely there.

I feel so frustrated.

Any advice?

Self Control

And she’s getting better…

OMG this is sick SERIOUSLY

October 22, 2008

J and I were watching Dirty Jobs tonight and this episode was called ‘Sheep Castrator’ and OMG.
That’s it. It’s the only thing I can say. Here’s a link to a little video – and I’m not that brave to embed it here – so you can watch it at your own risk.

Not my fault if you throw up.

But as a warning, go get your little bag. Just in case.

Got tagged!

October 22, 2008

Libby tagged me last Friday and I’ve been so distracted I almost forgot.

But that was an ALMOST. Phew!

So here are the…

Rules:
A. Link to the person that tagged you
B. Post the rules on your blog
C. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
D. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs
E. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
F. Let your tagger know when your entry is UP

1. Once I find some good task at work I OBSESS until it’s done. That could have a downside though. If it’s a fault from a coworker or something that’s not being done the correct way, I just can’t help being moody everytime I see it. I don’t intervine or boss people around – so not me – … – at least not at work – but I don’t say anything. I just sulk in silence.

2. I tease Penny more than I would want to. Well, more than a normal dog owner should anyway. You have to believe me… she’s such a little martyr.

3. I work using a computer all day and then I get home and what’s the first thing I (usually) do? Yep, turn on the computer. And what do I do? Nothing. Just use it for 30 minutes and then watch tv for another 20 minutes. That goes until 10 or 11 pm and then I realize I haven’t even blogged or read anybody’s blogs and I catch up on that until 1am. I suck at time management.

4. I put mayo on everything, you name it: fries, fried chicken, new york strip, chicken fried rice, empanadas, etc. I know you think it’s gross – at least J says that – so I don’t need another reminder! :-P

5. I trust everybody. Too much. Until they do something bad and then I tend to hold a grudge BAD to those guys. It’s even worse that a black list.

6. I still watch The Hills, it’s funny to me to see this girls involved in all this drama they created themselves. J usually watches it with me and records it ‘for me’ he says, but then waits for me so we can ‘watch it together. “It’s a bonding thing, like peeling potatoes or something”, he says…

And here I’m breaking a  couple of rules: Since I didn’t post on time (sorry Libs! I have a good reason though I’ll let you know soon) I won’t tag specific people, I’ll leave it up to you guys. If you want to copy it, please do so and leave me a comment with a link to your blog and I’ll stalk you! (and other stalkers will do the same)

Ringtones?

October 22, 2008

I really meant my question about what song could make a good ringtone and what are you guys converting now…?

I don’t listen to radio or watch music videos. None. Nada.

I’m faithful to Pandora :-)

10 things I learned over the weekend

October 20, 2008
  1. Being patient is so freaking hard!! I hate waiting. And I hate keeping good secrets.
  2. If you stop expecting something, it will happen.
  3. Sometimes weekends can be long and you just can’t wait until Monday arrives. I know, I’m kind of a freak huh? I have good reasons for wanting Monday to come, though.
  4. Exporting posts from Blogger over to WordPress is easier than saying supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
  5. WordPress is the easiest blog platform ever!! It’s dummy proof – which suits me perfectly.
  6. I think my husband is more Peruvian than me, he keeps looking for Peruvian recipes and cooking them. He’s just such a cute housewife.
  7. When bad things happen to you or around you it’s better if you just let it out and cry. Bottling your thoughts and feeling is not good for you. And after that you feel relieved!
  8. I can be damn stubborn sometimes. I don’t know how some people still like me and want to be around me.
  9. Sometimes being stubborn is helpful. Like when I didn’t want to buy iTunes songs/ ringtones and I googled for hours, and I finally found a way around to get my ringtones FOR FREE. It feels so gratifying!
  10. Do NOT ignore your Google reader for more than 2 days or you’ll be surprised how much other people blog over the weekend… and even more the one weekend that you stopped reading on Thursday. You guys are too good!

How was your weekend?

Tutorial for creating free iPhone ringtones

October 19, 2008

Editor’s note: I did not work this out myself, I googled this A LOT and came up with my own version of it, kind of merging a few tutorials, translating them into plain english and adding my own little advices ;-)

First off, a few things:

  • This does not work for iTunes downloaded songs, just for plain old mp3 songs uploaded to your iTunes (or if you do have itunes downloaded songs you want to edit, do what i did, just go here and convert it from .m4a to .mp3, save it in your pc, upload it to iTunes and then go from there).
  • Proved to work with iTunes 8
  • The first couple of songs are hard to make but after that you get the hang of it. Good luck!
  1. Open iTunes 8 and find the song you would like to make a ringtone
  2. Play the song and think of what part of the song you want as a ringtone. Remember the start and end times for those 30 seconds (a full song is about 4 min, and you want the ringtone to be – for example – from 1 min 23 sec to 1 min 53 sec)
  3. Select it and right click on it, click on ‘Get info’
  4. Go to the ‘Options’ tab and find the ’start time’ and ‘end time’ fields
  5. Write in the start and end times to customize the length of your ringtone
  6. After putting in your preferred time interval, click OK
  7. Make sure the song you want is still highlighted and then go to ‘Advanced’ in the menu bar
  8. Select ‘Create AAC version’ or ‘create apple lossless version’ (Varies from pc to mac)
  9. A duplicate of the song will be created  and will show up in iTunes (song will have same name but shorter length time, preferably a 30 second song)
  10. Go back to the ‘Get info’ part of the original song and uncheck both start and end times (so your original song doesn’t get messed up)
  11. When you find the duplicate song (usually just below the original song) drag it out to your desktop (in a mac) or to an easy-to find folder (in a windows pc)
  12. Once you copied the song, make sure you delete the original 30 second song from iTunes
  13. Find the dragged song in your computer and -see the extension file .m4a? – change the extension file from .m4a to .m4r  -  now it’s a ringtone file! (if you’re on a mac, you’ll be able to see the .m4a extension name and rename it; in the case of a windows pc if you don’t see the extension name of .m4a you have to go to ‘Tools’ in that folder menu bar and then ‘Folder Options’ > ‘View’ and then scroll down to find the line ‘Hide extensions for known file types’, uncheck it! then go back and you’ll be able to see extension names. Find the file, rename extension to .m4r) Now your file should go from ringtonename.m4a to ringtonename.m4r
  14. Drag the file you just renamed to the ‘Library’ column in iTunes and release it when ‘Library’ is highlighted
  15. If you go to ‘Ringtones’ in ‘Library’ you’ll see your newly created ringtone. GOOD JOB! Sync iTunes with your phone and there you go!

(Don’t forget you had to delete the original 30 second file that you edited before, otherwise your new file won’t upload)

Voi la!

What songs/ringtones do you have in your phone?
